Dr. Paula Marie Maionchi
We are saddened to share that Dr. Paula Marie Maionchi, a member of the Madison County Board of Health and a longtime servant of our community, passed away on August 27th.
Many of you knew Dr. Maoinchi through her work with the Health Department and Board, but her service to this community extended across decades and in more ways than could easily be counted. She was a physician, attorney, advocate, mentor, farmer, caregiver, and an unwavering voice for people who were too often overlooked.
Even after retiring from medical practice, she never really stopped being a doctor. She continued to think about patients, ask difficult questions, advocate for better care, and push us to consider whose needs were not yet being met. She cared deeply about public health and about ensuring that compassion was reflected in the way we served people.
Dr. Maoinchi had an extraordinary ability to see both the larger systems that needed changing and the individual person standing in front of her. Much of what she did for others was done quietly, without recognition, but our community is better because she was here.
