How it Works

The Harm Reduction Program reduces the spread of blood-borne diseases such as Hepatitis C and HIV among people who inject drugs (PWID). This is a scientifically proven public health service that uses the best practices established for harm reduction. By working with the program, you:

  • Address the spread of blood-borne diseases such as Hepatitis C and HIV.
  • Reduce the number of used syringes disposed of in public places.
  • Obtain referrals and information on drug treatment and rehabilitation, health service, insurance enrollment, counseling, and other social services that may be available.
  • Receive education on prevention of opioid overdose and education. You can also receive instruction on the proper use of naloxone to reduce overdoses where its use may be required to prevent death.
  • Are treated with respect and without stigma by our staff.
  • Receive referrals for services in a systematic and confidential manner.

Our Harm Reduction program serves anyone who comes, regardless of their place of residence. We don’t ask for your name, but we do create an ID card that we use to record your participation with us. Come as often as you need and let us know how we can help you.
